I used an aftermarket battery and it died in 2 Mnths.Buy OEM Olympus batteries.
This item was listed as "also purchased when ordering your camera"Unfortunately my camera I bought was the Olympus 8000 and this battery was for another camera, so after opening it and trying to install it, found it wouldn't fit. Guess I'll know not to purchase anything recommended by the article again.
I didn't want to buy a knock off battery and end up with a short lifespan since I didn't have the original battery. I tried taking the battery out and I guess during this process, I bent one side of the battery and the plastic siding came off. The original battery that came with my Olympus died due to my incompetence as I accidentally put the battery the wrong way into the charger. If I was buying purely a backup battery, I'd probably would have bought a knockoff. After this the battery never held a charge. I purchased this shortly after and this battery works just as well as the original. But if you are like me and your original battery died, then definitely purchase this one. Works perfectly.
I have not been able to use my digital camera for over a year because all of the batteries I purchased would not hold a charge or work. So having this option to purchase for less and it actually works - I am very pleased. I contacted Olympus and they told me to only use an Olympus replacement battery. I didn't want to spend over $40 when the camera only cost me $140. I also appreciate the fast shipment. Thank you.
